Today is a day of gratitude for me. It is a day of promise for our great party, the PDP. Today is also a day of hope for the entire Ndi Anambra.

First and most importantly, I want to express tribute to the Almighty God. Without Him, I would not be standing before you today. He deserves all this glory for this hard-fought victory. He takes the ultimate credit for everything that has happened in my past, for today, and forever.

I congratulate my fellow aspirants for a dogged campaign. Particularly, [2nd place] and [3rd place]. I congratulate these leaders of our party for their contribution to the internal democracy of our great party. I look forward to working with them to ensure that the great promise of our party is actualised and together, we lead the PDP to victory in November.

I congratulate every single member of the PDP for the display of unity. Today, we have demonstrated to the world that our party is one of the strongest pillars and defenders of our democracy.

I thank our leader. A capable, respected, and inspired leader; one of the best governors Nigeria has ever produced the former Vice Presidential candidate of our party, His Excellency Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.

I also want to thank the leader of our party, the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus for leading us into a new era of national unity, stability, and a celebration of democracy.

My profound gratitude goes to the first democratically elected governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Okwadike Ndigbo for his fatherly love, blessings, and wisdom that he shared with me on this journey. God bless you, abundantly, Sir.

I thank the chairman of our electoral committee, His Excellency Phillip Shuaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State; Rt Hon George Daika, the Former Speaker of Plateau State; and Hajiya Habiba Mohamed Deen for their professionalism in conducting this poll.

Thank the delegates of our great party – whether you were an automatic delegate who voted today, our statutory delegates, and our adhoc delegates who did not vote. Your collective will and your support made today’s victory possible. I promise that I will not disappoint you.

When I began this journey to leading my people, all I had was faith. Faith in the gifts, talents, and abilities that God has blessed with me. Faith in the democratic process. Faith in the collective intelligence of Ndi Anambra to choose right. The Holy Scripture defines faith “as the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen”. Our victory today is the substance of the faith that brought me into this race.

Today, our party has sent a strong signal to Ndi Anambra worldwide. We are ready to reclaim our state from the stranglehold of the deplorable APGA government. We are ready to unite behind an agenda that serves their future. And we are committed to fulfilling our promise to bring about the transformational leadership that will unleash their full potentials.

Our Ka Anambra Chawapu message is one of great possibilities, upliftment, and hope. What started as a seed in the heart of this village boy has grown into a movement that is now unstoppable. I recognise that this victory is not mine to claim. It belongs to the brave men and women of the VCO Campaign Organisation who caught the vision and joined this train when it was just an idea. I recognise my campaign Directors [Names] for their tireless dedication, selfless sacrifice, and determined fight to see that the grand vision which gave birth to this movement is actualised. God bless you all.

To the great people of Anambra, my promise to you has not changed. I offer myself to you to serve you. To bring all that God has deposited in me to reclaim our lost glory and bring our lofty dreams for our dear state to reality. To the youth of Anambra, I promise you to defend your future. To the women, I promise to bring you into the limelight and anchor my policies on you and the children that God has given you. This is my promise to you. I intend to keep it.

Whether you vote for me or not. I bless every delegate who voted today. I invite every member of the PDP and all the people of goodwill in Anambra and beyond to join hands with us. We are set to do what has never been before in governance on this continent and the world.

I wish to thank my mother and my father. My brothers and sisters and my in-laws. All the people of Amesi, my home town.

Finally, I thank my wife, Ojiugo. She is the pillar of our family. Without her love, support, and prayers, I would not have been standing before you today.

God bless everyone.
