Valentine Ozigbo, the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, has restated his commitment to ensuring a viable future for the youths of Anambra State.

He made the pledge on Saturday, August 28, 2021, when he attended the 60th Annual Soul Enrichment Bible Study Conference of the Anglican Youth Fellowship (AYF) of the Diocese on the Niger (Anglican Communion) held at St John’s Anglican Church, Eziowelle.

In his address to the large congregation of youths, Ozigbo, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Ojiugo Ozigbo, decried the neglect that the youth have suffered because of the insensitivity of their leaders, promising that if elected as governor, he would ensure that the situation was reversed.

“This conference is important because it affords us the opportunity to evaluate our past, understand the present, and make projections for the future,” Ozigbo, a respected business leader, said.

“The older generation had a better future mapped out for them, but unfortunately, they have not done enough to protect the future of the youths, and so we keep digressing.

“If we look through our education system at all levels, there is a lack of quality and relevance in the curriculum.

“The decay is also felt in all sectors from healthcare where the infant mortality rate is skyrocketing, to roads, sports, technology and so on. This sad picture makes me wonder about the kind of future we are creating for the young ones.

“This is the reason why I stepped down from my prestigious job at the top of corporate Nigeria and chose to run for office. I am eager to play my part in making sure that our children have a level playing field with their counterparts in developed countries.

“I have worked with a lot of young people, I understand their plight, and I am committed to partnering with them to ensure that they live up to their potential.

“I have always championed youth-friendly programmes in various capacities to bring out the best in them, and this will not stop when I am elected into office,” Ozigbo added.

Valentine Ozigbo is the immediate past President and Group CEO. He is the Founder of the Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, one of Nigeria’s most recognisable non-profit organisations emphasising women and youths.

The VCO Foundation has been at the forefront of harnessing and grooming budding young talents with its numerous youth-friendly initiatives, including Anambra Talent UNLOCKED, Mbem and Oja competition, Akalabo Business Plan Competition, #Walk4Health, #Walk4Peace, and many others.

He is also the Chairman of Feet ‘N’ Tricks International, Africa’s largest promoter of freestyle football. The company owns the sole rights to organise the annual Nigerian Freestyle Football Championship and the African Freestyle Football Championship.

Ozigbo is also an Executive Producer of the Merry Men movie franchise, one of Nollywood’s highest grossing movies.
